By taking some simple steps now you can improve your health and be unaffected by the menopause. These steps can be carried out by anybody and will make a huge difference without the need for great expense or complicated procedures.
What you eat and drink is particularly important at this time of your life as your body will have enough to cope with without having to deal with constipation or dehydration as well. A badly functioning digestive system can lead to flushes, skin complaints and even arthritic conditions. A few easy things you can do to improve your health at this time:
1. Increase the amount of water you drink to at least 1.5 litres daily.
2. Cut out coffee and decrease your tea to a maximum of 2 cups daily.
3. It is best to eat little and often.
4. Reduce the amount of junk food you eat – start to eat better quality food.
Good foods to eat at this time are known as “Phyto-oestrogenic” foods such as: soya, corn, apples, bananas, almonds, cashews, oats, cucumbers, lentils, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, green leafy vegetables and peas. More good foods are those containing Calcium such as: seeds, soya, nuts, oats, sardines, salmon, figs, parsley and alfalfa.
Taking charge of your own health in the ways I have outlined will help you to feel empowered and in control of what is happening to you.
